Low Cost Air Con Garage
Your air con may not get switched on often, but when it does, it should work. Nobody wants a lovely hot day spoiled by getting into the car and finding the gas has run out.
Keeping your air conditioning serviced isn’t a lot of work, but it is something you need to keep on top of. When it needs servicing, it’s worth thinking about which garage you use. The gas inside the system is hazardous and needs specialist qualifications to handle, so it shouldn’t be left to just any garage. Always look for a specialist air con garage.
Air Conditioning Regas & Recharge
This is usually what we mean by an air con service. Your air conditioning uses a refrigerant gas that cools the air before it reaches your vents. The gas is slowly used up over time, so it’s treated as a serviceable item. We recommend having it topped up every year, although some people only service it when the air starts blowing warm.
That’s fine, but we don’t recommend waiting. Letting the system run out of gas can damage it. Parts of the system are lubricated by the gas and work under pressure, so no gas means no pressure or lubrication, which can cause the system to fail.
Air Con Repair
If your air con isn’t blowing cold and you’ve already had it regassed, you probably need a repair. As we mentioned above, letting the system run low can cause problems. The air con system is bigger than you might think, and you could have a leaking seal, a failed condenser or a combination of faults.
